Autistic Pride Day

Autistic Pride Day is Aurum Foundation's flagship initiative and its most developed implementation of the infrastructure of belonging. It is a year round program working to prevent harmful and abusive treatment of autistic people, anchored to 18 June each year.

Why it exists

Autistic people experience emotional abuse, exclusion and harmful treatment at far higher rates than the general population, most often in everyday settings: workplaces, classrooms, services and homes. That harm is preventable. It persists because the people in those settings do not recognise their conduct as harmful, or do not know what safe alternatives look like. The program is directed at those people and organisations, rather than solely at supporting people after harm has occurred.

What the program delivers

Education and training

The Autistic Standard, a behavioural safety framework of six tiers, three protocols and a safety charter, delivered as courses with the first tier and all protocols free to the community.

Conferences

The free Think Autism conference, led by autistic speakers, clinicians and researchers, held in Sydney in 2025 and Melbourne in 2026. Sessions are filmed and released on Autistic Pride Day each year.

Toolkits and resources

Free practical guidance, campaign assets and templates for workplaces, schools, health services, community organisations and families.

Community leadership

Autistic speakers and professionals platformed, and partners brought into the work: 34 speakers and 18 partners in 2026.

Active across 22 countries. Conference participation grew from 60 in 2023 to 150 in 2025.
